For infants and children, Baptism, fulfils Jesus Christ’s mandate that the little children should come to him (Mark 10:14). It is a reminder to us all that it does not matter what age we are, or whether we know it or not, we are all, of course, God’s beloved children, created by God out of love and created by God so that God could love us. Baptism celebrates God’s love for each and every part of his creation.
During the Rite of Baptism of Infants, parents and God-parents are reminded that it is in the home where children are first loved and taught to love. It is in the home that children are first taught about God’s love for us and about prayer. Parents who present their children for Baptism are accepting the responsibility of introducing them to the faith of the Church and to nurturing that faith throughout their lives.
Adults interested in being Baptised and Confirmed into the Catholic Church should start by joining the regular Sunday congregation, and then talking to one of the clergy about how they might proceed.
Parents who wish to have their child baptised, should speak with one of the clergy before or after Sunday Mass.
