About Us
We meet in the church hall every Wednesday night:
- 4pm – 5pm (Rainbows)
- 6pm – 7:30pm (Brownies)
- 7:30pm – 9pm (Guides)
We are part of the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women. Guiding is for girls of all backgrounds, abilities and nationalities.
What makes guiding special?
According to GirlGuiding UK “Girl space with no boys around”.
Girls always need some time and space without boys around! And that’s what Girlguiding UK is for, to allow girls to just be themselves, making friends,
learning new skills and having fun.
Girlguiding is just the place to just chat to each other and meet like minded people. Even the adults use it for a reason to chat to other leaders.
“Girls lead the way in guiding, so the activities are what they want to do.”
What do girls in guiding do?
GirlGuiding encourages girls to do what they want to. There are no limits things like:
- Climbing
- Canoeing
- Walking
- Crafts
- Art
- Camping
- And so much more
What do Girls in Guiding do?
RAINBOWS (5 – 7yr olds): Being a Rainbow is all about learning, developing self-confidence, building friendships and, of course, having lots of fun!
Rainbow Promise: ‘I promise that I will do my best to love my God and be kind and helpful’.
BROWNIES (7-10yr olds): Brownies do it all!!! The meetings are full of challenges, games and activities, usually ones that the girls have suggested themselves.
Brownie Promise:
I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.
The Brownie Guide Law is: A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.
GUIDES (10- 14yr olds): Being a Guide encourages the girls to develop by undertaking challenges and pushing the boundaries of their experiences.
Internal Resources
Guide Promise:

The Guide Law is:
A Guide is:
Honest, reliable and can be trusted
Helpful and uses her time and abilities wisely
Faces challenges and learns from her experience
A good friend and a sister to all Guides
Is polite and considerate
Respects all living things and takes care of the world around her.
What can adults do in Guiding?
We are always looking for adults (men or women) to help us in our activities, either by sharing their specialism or by giving up a hour or two to assist us
in the weekly meetings. All of our adult helpers are volunteers, giving their time for free.

Our Buildings might be fairly new (12 years), but our faith and our original St Mary’s, on the same site, reminds us of the long history of our parish and of our Catholic Faith that goes back to the time of the Apostles.
The Church was Consecrated by Bishop Reagn Bishop of Wrexham on 12th March 1999.
The Catholic Community of Bridgend continues to grow; Mass is celebrated daily (view our Mass Times here) . We have the pastoral care of the large Filipino community, Polish community and the people of Bridgend. A monthly Mass is celebrated for the Polish and Filipino communities.
