Children’s Liturgy
The Liturgy of the Word for Children has become an essential part of forming our children in the Word of God as contained in the Scriptures. Children’s Liturgy currently runs at the 11.00am Mass on a Sunday in St Mary’s.
What they do
During the Liturgy of the Word at Sunday Mass, the children hear the same readings from a children’s edition of the Bible and discuss the meaning of the Word for the week. They complete simple activities related to what they have learned before rejoining the main assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
How you can help
If you have a creative mind, a zeal for faith and are good with children you could help our children appreciate the Word of God by becoming a catechist for Childrens Liturgy.
How the group could help you
If you are a parent with young children (under 8 and have not made First Holy Communion) the group can help your child with their understanding of the message contained in the Mass for the week. While they are with the group you can spend time more freely reflecting the Word at Mass.
